About Us
About Recetas
Recetas is a community for U.S.-born and raised Latinas focused on spirituality and integral wellness. Our shop is rooted in Franciscan values and Catholic Social Teaching. We celebrate Latina culture and create ways for our community to grow in faith, identity, wellness, and connection. Our shop is one way we put those values into practice.
We support responsible businesses and artisan partners, especially cooperatives and small producer groups that create economic opportunities for under-resourced and marginalized communities. Partnerships may also sustain education, job training, health, family support, and community development. Each partner’s work is different; a purchase does not necessarily make a direct donation to every program. Many products are made by survivors of human trafficking.
Fair Trade connects our everyday purchases with the dignity of the people who make our products. We look for fair payment, safe and respectful working conditions, producers’ voice and agency, lasting relationships, and care for creation. These commitments reflect our values of human dignity, solidarity with people who are marginalized, the common good, and care for creation. Community giving matters, but it complements fair treatment and fair pay rather than replacing them.
Some partners hold current third-party certification or membership; others may follow Fair Trade principles without formal certification. Certification can require significant cost and resources, so the absence of a certificate alone does not tell the whole story. We review the information available about how our partners work and what they support, and we describe each product as accurately as possible.
How to Read Product Tags
Product-page tags help make details about a product or its maker easier to see. These labels are not interchangeable:
- Fair Trade Certified: Use only when a current, named third-party certification applies to the product or organization; the certifier and scope matter.
- WFTO Guaranteed Member / Fair Trade Federation Member: Identifies an organization’s verification or membership status; it is not automatically a separate certification of every product.
- Abides by Fair Trade Principles: Describes a partner whose documented practices align with Fair Trade principles; it is not a claim of third-party certification.
- Handmade, Survivor Made, Refugee Made, Made in USA: Describes a product, maker, or production attribute; these are not Fair Trade certifications.

We do not label a product certified unless that status is documented. Details can differ by partner and product, so check each product page for its specific tags and information.
